Senate Bill No. 3296 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials’ Term Office Act of 2012

The bill seeks to change the term of barangay and sangguniang kabataan officials from three (3) years to five (5) years. This measure aims not only to save money to fund other aspect of national development, but more importantly, to give the barangay and sangguniang kabataan officials a longer period to pursue their program of development uninterrupted by concerns for re-election.

Senate Bill No. 2981 Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act of 2011

The bill proposes reforms in real property valuation and assessment in the Philippines to promote the development of a just and equitable real property valuation scheme based on internationally accepted valuation standards. It likewise aim to strengthen and reorganize the Bureau of Local Government Finance, under the Department of Finance.

Senate Bill No. 2929 An Act Amending Section 61 of Local Government Code of 1991

The bill seeks to amend Section 61 of RA 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, thereby proposing that complaint against any elective official of a component city should be filed before the Sangguiang Panlalawigan and not with the Office of the President. The proposal is grounded on the reason that under the concept of devolution, a component city is under the administrative and disciplinary jurisdiction of the province where it is geographically located.

Senate Bill No. 2377 Resetting the Barangay and SK Elections Act

This bill aims to reset the October 2010 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections to the last Monday of October 2011. This is pursued in order to save taxpayers’ money, which in part, have been already spent on the recently concluded May 2010 elections. Furthermore, it will help the county recuperate from the wounds of severe partisan politicking of the national election.
